Future teams uo with Canadian producer-par-excellence Nineteen85 to craft a gleaming endnote to an otherwise downtrodden WIZRD project. If the name Nineteen85 doesn’t conjure anything in your mind, rest assured this isn’t your introduction to his work; Nineteen is the mastermind behind chart-topping hits such as Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” “One Dance” and even Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter,” just to name a few.

For his part, Future refuses to alter his lyrical tone in response to Nineteen85’s radiant work. Such a change would be befitting, and unrealistic. Instead, he mops up the tide in the resignation of his permafried paranoia. As his curatorial work on Super Fly would aptly suggest, Future is a noted hip-hop historian, whose roots hearken back to the Deep South. “Tricks on Me” is, after all, yet another meditation on disillusionment, but also, a nod to the Geto Boys’ classic, long-considered the benchmark for “Paranoid Fiction” in rap.

Quotable Lyrics:

Rockstar in this shit, like a popstar in this shit, yeah
Tryna forget the way they did to Bankroll Fresh, gettin’ harder
Seen his son at my little boy birthday party, it was harder
The streets of the ATL don’t respect nothin’ but shottas
Had to look the other way.
