Tiwa Savage in an interview with Billboard, she revealed her upcoming album will be like Sugarcane 2.0.

The fantastic EP, Sugarcane, which was dropped under the imprint of Mavin Records in 2017 remains Tiwa Savage strongest body of work.

The singer recently landed a global recording agreement with Universal Music, and her first solo track since that deal is “49-99”, the lead single off the yet-untitled album. The fantastic track also confirms what Tiwa told Billboard: This major-label signing does not mean a major rebranding

Well, that’s certainly exciting news for Tiwa fans, as she is currently better and more self-assured than she has ever been in her career. Even listening to Sugarcane two years later, and all the songs have aged really well, which makes us very hopeful for the new album.

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced an exclusive global recording agreement with acclaimed Nigerian singer songwriter Tiwa Savage, one of Africa’s biggest stars and an artist whose success spans music, fashion, film and television. Under the agreement, her future music will be released internationally through UMG’s operations in more than 60 countries worldwide. The acclaimed singer-songwriter was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and later received a scholarship to study Professional Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts before embarking on a career that has seen her achieve creative success across a multitude of mediums.

2018 was her most successful year to date, which saw the singer-songwriter, philanthropist, entrepreneur and fashion icon crowned Best African Act by the MTV European Music Awards, making history as the first female to win the accolade. In the same year, she also became the first African female to sell out London’s IndigO2. In December, Tiwa was handpicked by Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin to perform alongside Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Jay Z live at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg to a 70,000 strong audience and millions across the globe in celebration of the centenary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. An accomplished live musician, she has performed around the world, including a notable performance at Jay Z’s Made In America festival in Philadelphia in 2017.

Tiwa was named one of the world’s Top 100 Inspirational Women in Fashion by Vogue US then later featured in British Vogue’s December 2018 issue as one of 10 women that are changing the face of music globally. She has released a string of singles including ‘Mr Lova Lova’ ft Duncan Mighty, ‘Diet’ and ‘Tiwa’s Vibe’ all of which hit the No. 1 spot across charts within Africa, securing her position as one of Afrobeats leading artists. Throughout her career, Savage has been active in her philanthropic endeavours, supporting various youth engagement organisations and breast cancer screening projects across Nigeria and further afield. Through her work with MTV’s Shuga, Savage is also keen to share further knowledge of HIV/ AIDS prevention and awareness within the continent. One of Africa’s most followed women on social media, Savage was the first African female to represent Pepsi as an ambassador and represents leading global brands including Nike, MegaGrowth Hair, MTN and Star Beer.

Throughout summer 2019, Tiwa will play a string of international festivals including the UK’s Wireless Festival, Afropunk in Paris and Oh My! Festival in Amsterdam.

Tiwa Savage said, “My biggest goal is to make Africa proud. I’m so excited for this moment and I’m thankful to Sir Lucian Grainge and my new UMG family for their belief in my dreams. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career and I’m more ready than I have ever been.”

danny-young-reveals-why-he-took-down-tiwa-savages-video-from-youtube

It is no longer News that singer, Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi, aka Danny Young, at war with Tiwa Savage over copyright infringement. As a matter of fact, he has now taken down her music video from Youtube.

Recall that Tiwa had released a single titled, One, late last year. Shortly after, Danny Young alleged on his Instagram page that she took a line off his 2009 single, Oju ti Won. But Tiwa Savage refused to comment and went ahead to release the visuals of the song.

However, it seems that Danny Young has taken the case to YouTube. Presently, Tiwa Savage’s video has been taking off the video sharing platform.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Danny Young said he had left everything in the hands of his lawyers. He said, “I wasn’t the one who contacted YouTube. My lawyers handled the process; I didn’t know how they went about it. You know YouTube knows the right thing to do.”

Young insisted that before it got to this stage, his camp reached out to Tiwa Savage but she ignored them. He said, “She felt we couldn’t do anything. I am sure she and her team know that we have a valid point. We didn’t even ask them for money, but we felt intellectual theft should be taken seriously in this part of the world. This is just the beginning; I plan to see this to the end if she doesn’t reach us for a compromise.”

According to Danny Young, people, who are supporting Tiwa Savage on social media, are ignorant. He added, “When I first raised the issue, I was slammed. They said I was saying rubbish. As a professional, I believe in more action, less talk. For people who understand music, plagiarism and copyright infringement, they will understand my point. I don’t have any business with people on social media as I feel they are ignorant.

“People said she only used the same proverb and that I was not the originator of the proverb. They are not looking at the technicality and professionalism of it all. Is it the same rhythm, coordination and tone? All these are music terms that people don’t understand. If you copy someone’s work, they look at all these.”

While admitting that he loves her music, Danny Young said he has never met Tiwa Savage. “I am a fan just like she might be my fan too. I love her music; she does well and I am in support of anyone doing good music. I also like the music of Yemi Alade and Simi,” he stated.

Yemi Alade apologize to fans over her tweets where she blasted female celebrities who enlarge their butt, that caused short beef between her and Tiwa Savage.

She wrote:

Guys i am not here to defend myself. If my last tweet was offensive in anyway, to my fellow females and guyz i apologise. I am sincerely sorry. I just want us to appreciate ourselves more tin, tall, fat, short. With or without Nyash. WE ARE BEAUTIFUL.❤

Tiwa Savage has reacted to Yemi Alade’s shade of increasing her butts in photos, which was passed on in a tweet yesterday morning.

Yemi Alade took to Twitter to call out her colleagues, who according to the her increase their butts in photos they share on social media.

Yemi Alade who advised her colleagues to embrace their true selves, added that they should stop deceiving their fans by increasing their butts. She wrote;

Stop increasing your ynash in your pictures! You know you are straight like “I” embrace your real self ! Ahh ahh. Deceiving fans up and dan

However Tiwa Savage who reacted to Yemi Alade’s shade, shared throw back photos on her Instagram page and further warned that though she is quiet, no one should fu*k with her. She wrote;

“Don’t start a war you cannot finish. Trust me I’m not the one. I’m quiet but don’t Bleep with me”

“Flash Black Friday #ToWhomItMayF&ckingConcern”

“Because I’m petty I get plenty more but make I no break your screen guard. Let sleeping dogs lie”

“A word is enough for the wise”
